40% of year-11 looked-after children in full-time education in 2001/2002 (55.6 per cent in England)

0.17% of unauthorised half-days absence in primary schools in 2002/2003 (0.43 per cent in England)

6.2% of pupils taking free school meals (13.9 per cent in England)

80% of boys achieving Level 5 or above at key stage 3 maths (70 per cent in England)

A spokesman for Leicestershire County Council said: "There is a dedicated team of officers that takes responsibility for ensuring that looked-after children receive the support they deserve. Leicestershire is one of the top three authorities at key stage 3. A great deal of work is undertaken to ensure a smooth transition between key stages 3 and 4."
