26% of looked-after children in Year 11 in full-time education in 2001/2 (55.6 per cent in England)

19.3% of nursery and primary school pupils taking free school meals in 2003 (13.9 per cent in England)

2.63% of half days missed due to unauthorised absence in 2002/3 (1.07 per cent in England)

60% of pupils achieved Level 5 or above at Key Stage 3 maths in 2002/3 (71 per cent in England)

Phil Green, director of education at City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, said: "For the past two years the council has worked in partnership with Education Bradford and the area has seen a continuing rise in standards.

Results have risen at every exam level. Bradford is also a Pathfinder area of the Government's Building Schools for the Future scheme."
