0.16% of school population permanently excluded in 2001/02 (0.12 per cent in England)

8% of maintained nursery and primary school pupils taking free school meals in 2003 (13.9 per cent in England)

71% of 16- and 17-year-olds participated in full-time education and training in 2000 (79 per cent in England)

2.1% of half days missed due to unauthorised absence in secondary schools in 2002/3 (1.07 per cent in England)

According to Richmond upon Thames Borough Council, the figure of 71 per cent for 16- and 17-year-olds participating in full-time higher education does not take full account of cross-border pupil flows and pupils studying in independent schools. Separate surveys suggest that the figure for Richmond should be closer to 90 per cent.
