Councillor Peter Boyes, Midlothian Council cabinet member for education and lifelong learning, said: "The council is working hard in the area of achievement, to improve arrangements for more integrated working for pupils with extra support needs.
"For instance, the cashless catering system, operated through the Dialogue Youth initiative, is raising the uptake of free school meals."
