Consultation on Proposed Amendments to the School Premises Regulations on School Kitchen and Dining Facilities.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) is working in partnership with local authorities, schools and parents to improve the quality and take-up of school food.

This consultation looks at resources produced by the DCSF and the School Food Trust, aimed at tackling inadequate school kitchen and dining facilities. The resources include checklists to use when building kitchens and dining facilities and a guide on effective dining spaces.

The plans contribute directly to the "be healthy" outcome set out in Every Child Matters, and support the government's public service target on child obesity. They also underpin the proposals that every pupil will go to a school that promotes their health and wellbeing.
