LINks - is that a computer language? It's the acronym for Local Involvement Networks. LINks have been introduced through the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Bill, which is currently going through Parliament. The bill will place a duty on the local authority and partner primary care trust to undertake a joint assessment of the health and social care needs of the local population. Although the bill abolishes patients' forums and the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health, it places a duty on health services to consult with their users and a duty on local authorities with social services responsibilities to ensure LINks activities are carried out.
