Your shout: What young people think about ... homophobia

1 min read

"One way to tackle homophobia would be to stop seeing it as a taboo subject and to teach young people about the range of sexualities in sex and relationships education. People are scared of the unknown, therefore if they are educated there's no reason to be homophobic"

- Jackie Conibeer, 16, Leicester

"Homosexuality is a big part of modern society and people must be educated about it. Citizenship lessons need to offer advice and support, as it can make people feel isolated. Punishments for homophobia must be equally as strong as for racism; it is equally unacceptable"

- Jack Holroyde, 20, London
