Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Sonja Ezergailis, care development manager, Association of Children's Hospices

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I'm the care development manager for the Association of Children's Hospices, a registered charity that advocates on behalf of all UK children's hospice services, and the children and families they care for.

Describe a typical day. I don't have a typical day. I wake up at 6am, sprint or occasionally stagger out of the house at 6.30. Having recently returned from volunteering with Raleigh International in Chile for three months, I've got used to being up at 7. My job is about sharing knowledge, expertise and best practice. It's also about promoting, developing and supporting the work of children's hospice services and raising awareness of what they do. Any day can either be in the office or travelling to various meetings.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you work with? I work with our member children's hospice services as well as voluntary agencies, statutory agencies, education establishments and other children's palliative care professionals. Within the charity I work with other senior managers, administration and communications staff and volunteers.
