Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Neil McMillan, project manager, Men Can Care

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I am the manager of the Men Can Care project run by Kibble Education and Care in Paisley. It's a bespoke programme of work and training for men interested in entering the childcare profession but who do not have the experience or qualifications.

Describe a typical day. I've just returned after 10 days in East Africa, where I am also a social protection consultant for Save the Children, so I spent a large part of the afternoon responding to a backlog of emails and post that had piled up, as well as face-to-face catch-ups. I spent the last part of the day counselling one of our Men Can Care trainees who was considering leaving the programme.

What other agencies, and who else in your organisation, do you work with?

I work with a whole range of care staff and managers across Kibble's services. Also, training providers, various statutory and voluntary organisations.
