1 min read
What exactly do you do? The boys2MEN project addresses the underachievement of boys and young men and seeks to increase the engagement of fathers and male carers in the lives of children.

Describe a typical day. No two days are ever the same. Mornings can bespent responding to messages or in meetings. Afternoons might includegiving supervision or running training sessions. Evenings or weekendsmay involve home visits, mentoring or facilitating group sessions.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation do you workwith? I work mainly with schools, social workers, child and adolescentmental health services, youth workers, mentors, and other statutory andvoluntary agencies. I have a team of 11 staff, eight volunteers, and 20mentors and/or sessional workers who keep me on my toes. We all workvery closely together in developing new services.

How did you end up in the job? Five years ago I used to work within theCoram Family as the deputy head of the Leaving Care Service. Back then,boys2MEN was just a small group work programme that I developedalongside my role. However I was given the opportunity to develop theproject in its own right.
