What exactly do you do? I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the in-house care service.

This involves ensuring there is an adequate skill mix and number ofstaff to provide care to children with life-limiting conditions andtheir families. I also provide advice and guidance to the staff toensure that a high standard of care is delivered.

Who else do you work with? There are six paediatric nurses, five careassistants, one nursery nurse and one general nurse here. I also workclosely with the head of care and our medical team of generalpractitioners. And I work with our outreach team leader to ensure thatfamilies within our catchment area are receiving support whether this isin their own home or at the hospice. Finally, I liaise with otherhealthcare professionals and support our fundraising staff.
