Workplace: Who's in your Meetings? - Lynne Blount, senior advisory teacher for behaviour, Essex County Council

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I work in primary schools to improve behaviour.

I manage a small team of senior behaviour support workers and provide training on classroom management, anti-bullying techniques and offer problem solving sessions. I am also part of the senior management team within behaviour support.

Describe a typical day? If I'm at Essex County Council I write reports on school visits, complete policy documents and attend meetings.

When I am in school I may meet with a headteacher to advise on school policy development or with a group of parents to explain our anti-bullying policy. I have been asked to support the senior management team, which usually means managing day-to-day behaviour.

What other agencies, and who else within your own organisation do you have to work with? I work closely with the advisory and inspection service, pupil support, the specialist teacher team, planning and admissions, governor services, finance, education welfare, educational psychologists and human resources.
