WORKPLACE: Who's in your meetings? - Becky Owen-Evans, ChildLine in Partnership with Schools youth participation officer

1 min read
What exactly do you do? It's my job to make sure that we involve young people in ChildLine's work.

Describe a typical day Some days I'll be working on policy, such as setting up a young people's advisory body for ChildLine. I'm also responsible for involving young people in producing the newsletter we send to schools.

On other days I might be at a conference talking about our peer support scheme in schools. ChildLine found that a lot of young people calling us were concerned about their friends and peer support is one way in which we are working to meet this need.

What other agencies, and who else within your own organisation, do you work with? My team works very closely with the Department for Education and Skills, which is putting a lot of resources into anti-bullying initiatives. I also liaise closely with teachers and schools.
