Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Helen Stanley, regional development manager for West Midlands, NDNA

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I'm based at the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) West Midlands regional centre and offer business and developmental support to day nurseries and creative learning opportunities to local communities. My role also involves identifying key elements of childcare strategies for the region and the impact on day nursery providers, and working with other day nurseries.

Describe a typical day. I might attend a local authority meeting to discuss working with private day nurseries or visit a nursery to discuss NDNA's quality assurance scheme, marketing and sustainability. I also regularly meet with Sure Start local programmes and other agencies and colleges to discuss partnership working. And I attend network meetings with nurseries.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you work with? I work with external agencies linked to childcare, including health, Jobcentre Plus, employers and local authorities. Internally I work with the NDNA regional centre manager, the staff of the neighbourhood nursery, and the other regional development managers across the country.
