Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Gill Loughran, deputy chief executive (operations), Parentline Plus

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I lead on the planning and delivery of our direct services to parents, ensuring that we reach as many as possible.

We provide a 24-hour helpline and email service, parenting groups and courses both face-to-face and on the telephone, and ongoing telephone support.

Describe a typical day. I attend many different internal meetings, some face-to-face and some on the telephone. I visit our 11 area offices as often as possible to find out what the issues are for them. I attend external meetings with other agencies to negotiate joint working arrangements or to represent the organisation as part of an interagency group.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you work with? Internally, staff at central office, our press team, the three regional directors and all the area officers. Externally, I work with a range of government agencies, other voluntary agencies and some local authorities.
