Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Anne Hamilton, family group conference development manager, Children 1st

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I am responsible for establishing and managing Children 1st's national family group conference (FGC) development unit. The aim is to promote the use of the conferences across a wide range of child welfare and protection needs and to develop best-practice guidance.

Describe a typical day. I might be holding a training session, negotiating new projects with service providers, working with volunteer advocates, participating in policy issues, or preparing evaluation tools. I have just completed a research paper on Children 1st's work with FGC from 1999 to date, so disseminating the information from that and taking the recommendations forward is a huge piece of work.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation do you work with? I work directly with FGC co-ordinators in our projects throughout Scotland, with staff and managers in other Children 1st services, and with a wide range of external agencies.
