Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Laura-Anne Pickford, nursery manager, Little Cheeky Monkeys Day Nursery, Blackburn

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I am responsible for the day-to-day running of the nursery including all the paperwork, all the staff and, obviously, all the children. I work closely with the owner and do all the planning and the figures.

Describe a typical day. I open up at 7.30am. I meet and greet all the parents and take down notes on anything the children need to be doing during the day. I work in the pre-school room in the morning, and in the afternoon I go into the office and do all the paperwork, work towards the Quality Counts quality assurance scheme, and funding. At 3.30pm it is time to pick up the children from school.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you work with? The nursery proprietor, my staff, members of the National Day Nurseries Association and the job centre, health visitors, physiotherapists, special needs support staff, and teacher teams from Lancashire County Council.
