An opportunity has arisen to lead the skills development of the national children's workforce. Ruth Smith looks at what this role with a leading children's charity for inclusive play will entail.

The charity Kids is one of the leading organisations for inclusive play;it strives to enable disabled children and young people to reach theirpotential. To help this happen it's looking to appoint a new nationaltraining development manager.

"It's a great opportunity for somebody who is passionate aboutdeveloping the professional workforce," says Joanna Ryam, nationaldevelopment director for Kids.

"It offers lots of opportunities; from supporting trainers anddeveloping training courses, to influencing national policy. The personwe appoint will help develop the national children's workforce throughworking with organisations such as the Children's Workforce DevelopmentCouncil and SkillsActive."

The successful candidate will manage and develop Kids' national trainingunit. This unit delivers an extensive programme of workforce developmentto support inclusion in play and childcare services.
