To better reflect what children want, Worcestershire's children and young people strategic partnership is seeking a co-ordinator to engage with young people. Jo Stephenson investigates.

The best way of improving outcomes for children and young people is bylistening to them and creating services they want and need. This is whyWorcestershire's children and young people strategic partnership and newchildren's services directorate have secured Children's Fund cash toemploy a participation and engagement co-ordinator.

"This is a very high profile and important post," says the head of youthservice, Bridget Cooper. "Every Child Matters and Youth Matters areclear that services must reflect what children and young people want. Sowe want someone to lead and co-ordinate active participation andengagement across all partners working with children and young people inthe county."

As a result, the successful candidate will work with councillors,various council departments, health services and voluntaryorganisations, and draw together other participation workers.
