An opportunity has arisen in Wandsworth to take a lead role in managing its extended schools agenda as the strategy is rolled out across the borough. David Singleton takes a closer look.

With the extended schools agenda gathering pace, Wandsworth councilwants to recruit a development officer to help ensure all its schoolsare offering extended services by 2010.

The inner-London borough is looking for someone to take a leading rolein developing its extended schools strategy, so the successful candidatewill engage with a range of potential partners and ensure thatheadteachers fully support the new agenda. They will also manage thecouncil's extended schools budget.

"This is a new post," explains training and development officer AmandaRaynor-Lee, "which will be responsible for ensuring that governmenttargets are met as the strategy is rolled out to every school.Long-term, it's going to change the way services are delivered so itwill be very exciting."
