The Association for Children's Palliative Care (ACT) has recruited HeatherWood as its new chair. Wood replaces John Overton, who is retiring after nine years in the post to become a trustee and treasurer. Wood is the current chiefexecutive of Rainbow Trust Children's Charity and has alreadyserved one year as a trusteefor ACT.

- The National Literacy Trust has appointed Honour Wilson-Fletcher as project director for the national year of reading 2008. Wilson-Fletcher is currently director of marketing at the Southbank Centre, and will take up the post in November. She previously worked for Waterstones, Hodder Children's Books, Penguin and The British Museum.

- Richard Stilgoe OBE has been appointed as the new chairman of Youth Music. Stilgoe is one of the charity's founding trustees and will replace Gavin Henderson, who retired in July. Stilgoe has worked in the music industry for more than 40 years, and founded the Orpheus Centre in Surrey, a performing arts facility for young disabled adults.
