Fletcher has worked in similar roles at RNID, Home-Start and the Red Cross. Her post will involve working to keep registered childminders and nannies at the heart of local and national childcare plans.
- Andy Newsam is the Youth Justice Board's new serious group offending, guns and weapons strategy manager. Newsam has been recruited on a secondment from Newham Youth Offending Team. He will focus on developing a strategy and action plan.
- Joe Levenson, policy manager for community safety at the Greater London Authority, is joining the National Council of Voluntary Child Care Organisations as director of policy and communications. He previously worked in the same role for the Prison Reform Trust and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
- Gaynor Kershaw has been elected as chair of the North West region of Unite and the Community Practitioners' and Health Visitors' Association. Kershaw is a health visitor in Rochdale and has previously represented nurses on primary care trust committees and boards.
- The Independent Safeguarding Authority, a new body set up to reform vetting practices and protect vulnerable children, has announced Adrian McAllister as its first chief executive. McAllister was previously acting deputy chief constable of Lancashire Police.
- Linda Langthorne has joined children's charity Spurgeons as professional adviser for safeguarding and quality. She was previously employed as project support co-ordinator at Leicester Children's Fund, where she supported 15 projects across the county.
- Northern Ireland education minister Caitriona Ruane has announced the appointment of Alderman Maurice Devenney to the Western Education and Library Board and Michael James Murphy to the Southern Education and Library Board. Devenney is a trustee of the Newbuildings Community Association and Murphy is on the board for St Bronagh's Primary School in Rostrevor.
