Councillor Maire Hendron has been appointed to the Belfast Education and Library Board. She is also a board member of the Avoniel Playcentre and chair of the fundraising committee of the Northern Ireland Hospice. She previously worked for Rathbone Grammar School as a departmental head.

- The new UK chief executive of arts and education funder the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is Andrew Barnett. He was previously director of policy development and communications for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and is a board member of Yorkshire Metropolitan Housing and a trustee of Addaction.

- Michael Leadbetter and David Prince have joined the General Social Care Council (GSCC) as council members. Leadbetter is currently chair of the Children's Workforce Development Council. Prince is chief executive and accounting officer for the Standards Board for England.

- Bill Freeman joined the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action as director of development this week. He was previously director of the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance, a coalition of health charities.
