Deborah McCahon has been appointed member development manager on the principal officer team at educational charity The Woodcraft Folk. McCahon was previously manager of the Heritage Lottery Fund's Young Roots grants programme. Before that she worked for Youth Action Network, the Department for Education and Skills, and Herefordshire and Worcestershire Community Councils.

The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust has appointed a board of 12 directors following a review of its corporate governance. Sir James Hill has been elected as chairman, replacing Sir Cyril Taylor. Hill is also chair of the board of governors at Dixons City Academy in Bradford and co-chair of the Academies and Colleges Association.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers has appointed Daniel Phelps as its young carers development officer. He will be working alongside The Children's Society to provide nine local authorities in England with advice and support on reaching young carers. Phelps is a former teacher and has spent the past six years managing a young carers' service in Hampshire.
