Work Wise: This week's movers

Dawn Butler, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Youth Affairs and Labour MP for Brent South, has been appointed to the Children, Schools and Families Select Committee, which monitors the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

Julie Bishop has been appointed director of The Law Centres Federation, the national body for community law centres. Bishop has 25 years' experience working in Australian legal centres that administer free advice to vulnerable people. The federation runs the young people's law centre project with Youth Access.

Peter Wanless has replaced Stephen Dunmore as chief executive of The Big Lottery Fund. Wanless is currently director of the DCSF families group and was previously director of school performance and reform and director of strategy and communications.

 

YouthLink Scotland has elected three board members at its annual meeting. Councillor Peter McNamara from North Lanarkshire Council will be the new chair, Janet Shepherd from the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme will be vice chair and Alan Inglis from John Wheatley College will be honorary treasurer.
