DISAPPLICATION

Where you might hear it: In a school or education setting.

What does it mean: Disapplication is the term used to describe thetemporary or permanent suspension of part of the National Curriculum,for an individual or specific group of pupils. It is only used inexceptional circumstances, when "disapplying" a particular curriculumsubject would significantly help a pupil, or pupils, progress.Disapplication can only occur if the head teacher and school governorsagree it is necessary. It is sometimes used to allow a pupil to focus onan area of learning in which they have significant strengths orweaknesses, or to incorporate work-related learning into a pupil'sstudies.
