APIR
Where you might hear it: From anyone who works in Connexions.
What does it mean: The phrase APIR refers to the "assess/plan/implement/review" framework used by Connexions professionals in all one-to-one interventions with young people. Connexions staff are required to stick to the format of the framework to ensure that any young person visiting any Connexions partnership can expect a thorough assessment of their needs. As the acronym suggests, there are four main elements to the framework, each of which is intended to help the young person in question take control of their progress.
How to use it: Speak to a young person who has experience of working with the APIR framework. Find out about APIR training available in your area.
