WALES: Colleges hit out at training cutbacks

The 380,000 budget was used by local authorities to train in-service youth workers in part-time youth and community higher education courses. These are run by the Wales Youth Agency's Staff College; the University of Wales College, Newport; the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, and the North-East Wales Institute of Higher Education.

Hamish Murphy, principal lecturer, youth and community studies, North-East Wales Institute of Higher Education, said: "A lot of training arrangements are built on goodwill and the budget was a key component of that."
