Volunteering: Young people help patients in hospital

More than 150 young volunteers have been helping out in a hospital in Bexley over the summer.

The young people helped refurbish the garden patio, helped to feed patients and ran their own health prevention workshops at the Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup. They were taking part in a Community Service Volunteers (CSV) scheme as part of a series of projects to encourage young people to do 100 hours of volunteering over six weeks.

Rachelle Bocanog, a CSV volunteer, said: "If the patients and staff have happy memories of us after our six weeks we will know we've succeeded."
