The vPortal, developed by youth volunteering charity v following recommendations by the Russell Commission, will provide a youth-friendly way for 16-to 25-year-olds to access the national volunteering database.
Mel Foster, marketing and communications director for v, said: "This will make it more compelling for young people to get involved. This is what young people have said they want."
The organisation is working with online charity YouthNet to adapt the database so that it offers a special search facility for youth opportunities. Voluntary organisations placing opportunities on the database will be able to indicate whether they are of interest to young people, so that when a young person conducts a search, the appropriate opportunities top the list.
