Tom Levitt, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Community and Voluntary Sector, has been involved in an annual event for older volunteers for the past five years.
Every MP brings a volunteer over the age of 50 to the Commons for the day. A reception is held and they receive certificates for their work.
Levitt now wants to extend this scheme to young volunteers. He plans to arrange it in partnership with youth volunteering charity v, for a date in November.
Levitt announced his idea last week while hosting a parliamentary event organised by the charity's youth advisory board, v20. Afterwards, he said: "The suggestion appears to have gone down very well."
