The weather might be freezing now, but it won't be long before summer is here and the music festival season is under way. Andrea Kurland rounds up some events suitable for youth groups.

MAY

Radio 1's Big Weekend - Camperdown Park, Dundee, 13-14 May

Radio 1 will be giving away 30,000 tickets to this festival in May. Artists have yet to be confirmed, but past Radio 1 events have featured the Black Eyed Peas and Foo Fighters. Orange Evolution - Newcastle and Gateshead, 18-29 May

This 10-day summer festival kicks off on 18 May and culminates with a live performance from recent chart-toppers Hard-Fi on 29 May. The Newcastle and Gateshead Quaysides will be transformed to accommodate three stages. Cost: Free on 29 May. Tickets for other events start from 6. www.orangeevolution.co.uk
