The School Staffing (Consolidation) (England) Regulations 2009

Education
The Department for Children, Schools and Families is seeking views on the consolidation of the School Staffing Regulations. A number of amendments have been made since the regulations were introduced in 2003, and the government is now looking to merge these into one set of regulations.

Changes include modernisation of the language used and clarification of people responsible for existing duties. It will also need to redraft the legislation to reflect legal requirements of new policies, including those relating to conditions of employment for teachers and safeguarding vulnerable children. The consultation itself will not introduce anything new into the legislation. The results will be published in September, and the consolidated legislation is expected to come into force before the end of the year.

Closing date: 24 July
