THE NATIONAL YOUTH AGENCY: Youth work sector considers response togreen paper

Around 80 delegates from the youth work and youth services sector attended a consultation on the recent green paper Every Child Matters on 19 September. Held at The National Youth Agency's offices, delegates had the opportunity to listen to and discuss the agency's response to the paper.

Tom Wylie, chief executive of The NYA, said he broadly welcomed the content of the document, but expressed reservations over the emphasis on child protection and lack of material relating directly to the youth service. Maxine Green, of Camden Youth and Connexions Service, added that more attention needed to be given to young people's involvement and their contribution to society.
