An agency response to the paper states that its emphasis on better coordination of local services, sharing essential information among professionals, accountability and an effective workforce are all essential in developing robust and responsive services and are all a critical part of the Transforming Youth Work and Resourcing Excellent Youth Services agenda.
"I'm pleased to see that the Government acknowledges youth work is uniquely placed to support young people's personal and social development," said Tom Wylie, chief executive of The NYA. "But we are disappointed that the green paper does not adequately reflect the particular vulnerabilities of young people, as opposed to children."
