The National Youth Agency: 'Next Steps in right direction - nowpush on,' says The NYA

Tom Wylie, NYA chief executive, said: "We are glad that the Government is continuing the direction of travel it set out in the original Youth Matters document. We welcome in particular the determination to ensure that young people are fully involved in decision-making about local services and the various legal and administrative arrangements, which are being created to that end. We now encourage the Government to press forward speedily on the promulgation of national standards for local provision."

Youth Matters: Next Steps was released last week following an unprecedented 20,000 responses to the original green paper, understood to be a record in the entire history of consultations from British Government. It contains a range of proposals that will require children's trusts, local authorities and the voluntary sector to work together to provide "something to do, somewhere to go, someone to talk to" for young people.
