The Government's response to the Youth Matters consultation isn't a massive leap forward from original proposals, but it does introduce some detail, which many felt was lacking from the green paper.
Having waded through 20,000 responses, 19,000 of which came from young people, in Next Steps the Department for Education and Skills has set out how it intends to take its plans forward. It also has more cash to do so, following the Chancellor's pre-Budget report, which upped the value of the youth opportunity fund from an original 11m to 75m.
Beverley Hughes, the minister for children and young people, says: "We've got 115m to spend on the Youth Opportunity Fund and Youth Capital Fund.
