Youth Matters: Next steps - Guidance released for youth funding

1 min read

The guidance, which is published alongside the Youth Matters: Next Steps document, will announce individual allocations for each local authority, set out how the funds should be used and make clear that the funds are not a replacement for core funding of youth work.

The document confirms 10 local authorities will pilot the youth opportunity card (YPN, 11-17 January, p3); overall, about 70 local authorities applied to take part in the two-year pilot.

Youth minister Beverley Hughes told Young People Now the support from young people and concerns of youth work professionals have been taken on board and will be looked at in the pilots. It is understood that finding a delivery vehicle is the major issue that needs finalizing.
