Youth Matters: Next steps - Connexions brand should be retained

The document says the Government will consider encouraging local authorities to use the brand for frontline information, advice and guidance (IAG) services such as one-stop shops.

The Department for Education and Skills (DfES) will push ahead with its proposal to delegate responsibility for IAG to children's trusts, despite the fact that only a quarter of those consulted agreed with the move.

But the document acknowledges the need for young people to access IAG services outside schools, calling on authorities to build on facilities provided by Connexions, youth services and voluntary organisations.

Draft quality standards for IAG will be produced by November for finalisation in April next year.
