Tom Wylie, chief executive of The NYA, said he was very pleased with the appointment. "Professor Aynsley-Green was responsible for some excellent work in the creation of the National Service Framework for Children and Young People, and we are confident that he will bring that knowledge and understanding to his new role," he said.
The professor is currently national clinical director for children, as well as Nuffield professor of child health at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and at the Institute for Child Health, University College London. He will act as an independent voice for children and young people, to champion their interests and bring their concerns and views to the national arena.
