Issue: Access on the island, cost of transport
The situation: Young people on the Isle of Wight had to pay adult fares on the buses at the age of 14. They were often forced to pay 7 return to visit facilities or services on other parts of the Island. Young people had raised the issue for many years at their annual Wight 2B Heard conference and the Youth Council had campaigned consistently on this issue. A change in administration and bus company gave the campaign a chance to achieve its aims.
