The National Youth Agency: What's changed

1 min read

Organisation: Indigos Go Wild

Issue: A space to play outside

The situation: Originally an after-school club, Indigos recognised the need for young people to have an outdoors space to play. Young people were saying they were getting into trouble playing on the streets. The local school offered the use of a disused plot of land and the children, young people and local residents set about clearing the space.

What children and young people said

"People from six to adult age come here to play" ... "Everyone makes trouble on our street but if you come down here there's no trouble. You can't really get hurt and you can have loads of fun" ... "When you're running round it makes you healthy" ... "We got out of it a sense of achievement and learning how to build a cabin."
