The National Youth Agency: Out of the Box will encourage groups to have a go at reading

1 min read
The National Youth Agency is organising a series of regional events to roll out the learning from its Out of the Box programme.

The aim of the joint project between the agency and The Reading Agency is to support developmental opportunities for reading for 14- to 19-year-olds who are disaffected or disengaged from formal education.

It aims to achieve this by encouraging young people in youth work settings to read more widely and frequently, and supporting stronger library/youth work partnerships and a range of development activities to help build reading communities.

The four regional events in York, Manchester, London and Bristol are planned for June. They will aim to disseminate the learning from the programme by bringing participants together with project workers and encouraging future development through stimulating interest and energising participants to "have a go".
