The National Youth Agency: NYA helps plan National Year of Reading 2008

1 min read
The National Youth Agency is among several partner organisations supporting the National Year of Reading 2008, and recently attended meetings of its steering group.

The National Year of Reading is a year-long celebration of reading and literacy in all its forms. It aims to encourage more young people to read and to enjoy reading, and young men are being targeted as a priority group. The initiative is being managed by a consortium of organisations committed to promoting reading and literacy, led by the National Literacy Trust and The Reading Agency, and on behalf of the Department for Children, Schools and Families. The campaign of public events begins in April, and was launched in January by Children's Secretary Ed Balls. Events include texting, blogging and understanding how sport can influence and promote reading. For more information visit www.yearofreading.org.uk
