The National Youth Agency: Empowerment - Introducing young peopleto local politics

1 min read
The Local Democracy Campaign - of which The National Youth Agency is a key member - has produced a new set of "how to" guides to help engage young people with local politicians.

The four guides contain simple, practical and fun ideas, and are aimed at the four campaign audiences: councillors, teachers, councils and young people.

Sending the Councillor Back to School is for councillors and provides ideas and initiatives to lure them into schools. From the other perspective, Bringing Democracy to the Classroom provides a range of lesson suggestions for citizenship teachers and their students. Introducing Young People to Local Politics provides those working with young people with ways to engage young people outside of the school environment. And finally, Getting the Most Out of Your Council Chamber is designed for council officers, and shows how the council buildings can be transformed into young people-friendly and welcoming places to debate local democracy.
