National Youth Agency: The value of youth work

1 min read
How councils are improving the lives of young people through their youth work offer is at the heart of a new report from the National Youth Agency and the Local Government Association.

A series of case studies explores how youth work supports positive outcomes across a wide range of areas, including participating as active citizens in local democracy, making lives healthier, improving access to learning and staying out of the youth justice system. Together they demonstrate the breadth and quality of the council youth offer.

The case studies include local participation and democracy as part of a diverse local youth offer in Devon, engaging as young learners in education and training in Hounslow, making young people's lives healthier in Rotherham and improving access to learning in Plymouth. Interventions improving young people's information, advice and guidance on the Wirral, supporting young people through partnership working in Hartlepool, participating in positive activities in Portsmouth and promoting youth inclusion in Birmingham complete the set.
