1 min read
A research report on finding solutions for young people's bus travel has recently been published by The National Youth Agency.

Accessing Positive Activities: Innovative solutions for young people'sbus travel is intended to support authorities in achieving aims outlinedin the government's Aiming High For Young People strategy by providing aclear outline of the issues faced by young people using buses (orwanting to use buses) to access positive activities, and exploringpotential solutions to current problems.

In helping to put the report together, young people identified a numberof barriers to using public buses, primarily cost, availability, reliability and the attitude of drivers and staff.

Despite a growing number of innovative schemes being developed by localauthorities and bus companies to encourage bus use, large numbers ofyoung people currently express a preference for avoiding publictransport altogether and to drive once they are old enough.
