The National Youth Agency: Access - NYA searches for good practice in transport for young people

1 min read
The National Youth Agency published Accessing Positive Activities: Innovative solutions for young people's bus travel in 2007, which explored the issues faced by young people using public transport and four case studies of local authority-led initiatives designed to address these problems.

This year, the agency has been commissioned and funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families to develop guidance on transport for children's trusts, transport planners and providers of positive activities. This work is cited in the Aiming High for Young People Implementation Plan: "We have asked The NYA to work with young people, local authorities and transport providers on how improving local transport provision can support young people's access to positive activities."

The NYA is working with other stakeholders, including the UK Youth Parliament and NCB, to develop this guidance. It will be based on evidence of good practice from around the UK.
