Substance misuse: Worcestershire to join up agencies

1 min read

Space, which launches on 28 April, has taken two years to develop. It brings together 10 professionals from the county's substance misuse action team, Connexions, the youth offending service, primary care trust, the charity Turning Point and a local alcohol advice charity.

Phil Deakin, co-ordinator of the substance misuse action team, said: "While many people are contributing, the big advantage to young people is that the service only has one face. No single agency or funding stream can deliver that on its own."

The Space service, which costs around 300,000, will direct people up to the age of 18 to two telephone numbers. If telephone advice isn't enough, the organisations involved will send staff along to meet them.
