It's hard to find any part of the public sector where visions aren't "holistic", task forces "multidisciplinary", or partnerships "cross cutting".
But tackling drug abuse is one area where the multi-agency approach has become a necessity rather than a piece of David Brent-style management speak.
All under one roof
Evidence that the rhetoric is being acted on is demonstrated by Reading Borough Council's decision to locate drug workers who support young people in a new agency called The Source (YPN, 26 May-1 June, p4). Under the plans, drug workers with a youth focus will be brought together from agencies such as youth offending teams, health and social services and Connexions.
